Super Bock Super Rock (SBSR) is one of Portugal’s most iconic music brands, and in 2026 it enters a completely new era. After three decades as a summer festival, SBSR has been reinvented as an ongoing series of concerts by major international artists, staged at different venues throughout the year rather than a single summer weekend.
A Brief History of Super Bock Super Rock
The story began in 1995, when the promoter Música no Coração launched the first edition at the Gare Marítima de Alcântara in Lisbon, with acts like The Cure and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Named after its founding sponsor, the Portuguese beer brand Super Bock, the festival became known for constantly reinventing its format, from multi-city concert runs in the late 1990s to a decade-long run as a beach festival at Meco, Sesimbra, where it hosted acts like Radiohead, Prince and Arctic Monkeys.
After its 29th edition was cancelled in 2025, Super Bock partnered with Live Nation to relaunch the brand under an entirely new concept: instead of one summer weekend, SBSR now stands behind a series of standalone concerts by global artists held across the year, keeping its legendary name alive under new management.
The New Era: Concerts Throughout the Year
The relaunch opened with The Weeknd at Estádio do Restelo in Belém, Lisbon, on 5 and 6 September 2026, as part of his “After Hours Til Dawn” world tour. Bryan Adams follows next: his “Roll With the Punches” tour stops at Super Bock Arena in Porto on 17 and 18 November and MEO Arena in Lisbon on 20 and 21 November 2026, with the extra dates added after the first shows sold out within a week. Karol G then brings her “Tropicoqueta” world tour to Estádio da Luz in Lisbon on 18 June 2027. Further shows under the Super Bock Super Rock name are expected to be announced on an ongoing basis, each with its own presale and exclusive fan experiences, so it’s worth checking back regularly for the latest additions to the calendar.
